A defense-tech startup, building an AI-powered autonomous systems that connect cameras, sensors, and natural-language interfaces, is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer, to take full ownership of high-performance, low-latency backend systems, design scalable infrastructure, and help shape the core architecture of the platform in a hands-on, early-stage environment. Responsibilities Design and build scalable backend services for real-time systems Develop data pipelines for video streams, camera networks, and AI outputs Own backend architecture (APIs, databases, infrastructure, observability) Build low-latency, high-performance distributed systems Work closely with ML, product, and infrastructure teams Maintain production infrastructure using Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD Improve system performance and reliability end-to-end Requirements 5+ years of backend / full-stack experience (backend-leaning) Strong experience with distributed systems and system design Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Docker, CI/CD Strong API design and database experience (e.g. PostgreSQL) Experience working in fast-paced, production environments Computer Science degree or equivalent
