you have strong opinions on how to apply it to product engineering. This is a builder role. You'll lead technical initiatives end-to-end, design systems from scratch, break ambiguous problems into shippable work, and mentor strong engineers around you. What you'll do Lead the design and delivery of complex, multi-component features across our cloud-native platform. Own the architecture for new product areas- make the hard trade-offs, write the design docs, and drive them through review. Break down vague, AI-shaped problems into concrete engineering work and ship them. Build and operate systems running at meaningful scale on Kubernetes. Raise the engineering bar through code review, mentorship, and applying AI tooling to how the team works. Requirements What we're looking for 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including shipping and operating production systems at a commercial product company. Proven track record of independent technical leadership: you've personally architected systems, written the design docs, and led projects from idea to production- not just implemented someone else's spec. Strong ability to decompose ambiguous, large-scope projects into clear, shippable tasks. Hands-on experience operating high-scale production systems- performance, reliability, and cost trade-offs are not theoretical for you. Deep, daily experience working in Kubernetes-based environments. AI-first mindset: AI tooling is core to how you build software. You can speak concretely about how you use it, where it falls short, and how to design products that leverage LLMs and agents responsibly. Strong proficiency in at least one modern backend language (C#, Python, Go, Node.js, or Java) and comfort working across the stack, including modern frontend (React/TypeScript). Solid grounding in relational databases and data modeling, and in at least one major cloud (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
