We're hiring a Software Engineering Team Lead, reporting to the VP of R&D. This is a hands-on leadership role: you lead a team building the systems that authorize, settle, and reconcile every transaction we process, and you keep writing and reviewing code while you do it. It fits how we think about advancement here. Engineers grow by taking on harder problems and more ownership, not by how many people report to them, and your job is to create that for the engineers on your team.
7+ years in engineering, including 2-3 years leading engineers as a team lead, tech lead, or manager; the rest spent building production systems hands-on. You still own hard technical work yourself; the hands-on ability does not lapse when you lead.
A track record of developing engineers and helping them advance: hiring, mentoring, giving clear feedback, and growing people's scope and autonomy.
Deep proficiency in at least one modern language; comfort with TypeScript / Node.js (our stack) or the ability to ramp into it fast. We care more about how you think than which language you've shipped most.
Solid grounding in distributed systems at production scale on a major cloud provider (we run on AWS): event-driven architectures, container orchestration, infrastructure as code, and the operational craft of running services in production (observability, debugging, incident response).
Fluency with agentic engineering tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, or equivalents) in your day-to-day work, and a considered view of how a team should use them. Not something you've tried, something you ship with.
